9 Counties Where You Can Buy Cheap Land

Looking for the perfect vacation getaway?

Below are a few of the best counties to find cheap land in the US.

  1. Metcalfe County, KY

If you are looking for land in Appalachia, Metcalfe County is one of the most affordable counties in the region.

This southern Kentucky county has several landmarks, including The Cut and the Devil’s Den Cave, as well as a ghost town.

  1. Rio Arriba, NM

Rio Arriba County is one of New Mexico’s oldest, and it used to span to present day Las Vegas.

This northern county is home to lots of open space, but is not too far from Albuquerque and Santa Fe.

There are also a number of national protected areas here, including the Santa Fe National Forest.

  1. Fulton County, AR

If you are looking for a spot in the Ozarks, Fulton County is one a several Arkansas Counties where you may want to look.

Fulton County is known for its low cost of living and small-town feel.

It also has a lot of natural beauty, including one of the largest springs in the world.

  1. Klamath County, OR

For those who love the forest but don’t want to relocate out east, Klamath County may be for you.

This is a large rural county located near the border with California.

Klamath County is famous for Crater Lake, one of the deepest and clearest lakes in the United States. 

  1. Sharp County, AR

Like Fulton County, this is another county located in the Arkansas Ozarks.

It is a rural county with a small-town fee and a number of resort communities.

The town of Hardy is also a great spot for those who love historic architecture.

  1. Alamosa County, CO

Colorado is a state well known by those who love the outdoors.

Like many counties in Colorado, Alamosa has numerous mountains.

But it is also home to the Great Sand Dunes National Park, which contains the tallest sand dunes in the United States.

For the adventurous, you can also go sandboarding!

  1. Navajo County, AZ

For desert lovers, Navajo County is near the Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest National Park.

Navajo County also has a fair amount of history.

For example, Oraibi is the oldest inhabited town in the United States founded sometime before 1100 ad.

It was also the site of the Pleasant Valley War, a range war between two prominent ranching families.

  1. Valencia County, NM

 Valencia County is a rural county to the south of Albuquerque.

The Manzano Mountains rise to the east of the county and mesas dominate the west.

In between lie the Rio Grande and Rio Puerco Rivers.

Most residents live in the Rio Grande valley, but there are homesteads and cattle ranches scattered throughout the region.

It is also home to several national protected areas, including the Cibola National Forest.

  1. Luna County, NM

Another New Mexico County, Luna County has a strong history with the entertainment industry dating back to 1953’s “The Tall Texan.”

The county seat of Deming is a historic town that dates back to the 1800s and is a great backdrop for western movies.

Like Valencia County, Luna County is home to a number of mountain ranges, such as the Florida Mountains and Cooke’s Range.

But there are plenty of places to find affordable land.
