Gpt Partition

Windows cannot put GPT on this disk indicates the error message  Windows cannot install on this disk.  “Your Selected disk is of Gpt Partition Style”.  This is one of the common errors that occurs during Windows installation. When you try to install Windows 10, 8 or 7 on your computer.  Windows Setup may report a Windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk has the GPT partition style.  If this happens, you cannot continue installing Windows unless This is not fixed.

Error Shown:-  Windows cannot be installed on this disc.  “Your Selected disk is of Gpt Partition Style”.

What’s the reason behind this error ‘Selected disk is GPT partition style’

During Windows setup, you must install using the MBR or GPT partition style.  When Windows is installed using Windows Setup on a UEFI-based PC, the hard drive partition style must be configured to support UEFI mode or Legacy BIOS Compatibility mode.  In simple words, when you decide to choose an MBR or GPT partition to install Windows, you need to clearly know what motherboard firmware you are using and match the two words.

If you are asked to say Windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is the GPT partition style, this is because your PC starts in UEFI mode, but your hard disk is UEFI.  Not configured for mode.

Here’s the solutions for GPT partition style error ‘Windows cannot install on this disk’ with the help of EaseUS

All computers will start in one of two modes as it causes the error UEFI or BIOS.  If your computer is UEFI based, you must install Windows on a GPT disk.  Similarly, if your computer is BIOS based, you will need to install Windows on an MBR disk.  Therefore, GPT is incompatible with the legacy BIOS and that is why I get the error message Windows cannot install on this disk. The selected disk is the GPT partition style.  After finding the cause, troubleshooting has become much easier.

Method 1. Convert MBR to GPT without losing data

The error message, as mentioned, indicates that Windows starts in UEFI mode in which the system disk requires a GPT partition style.  The selected disk is a direct solution to the GPT partition style is for converting MBR disks to GPT.  We strongly recommend that you choose a method without data demolition to perform the GPT to MBR conversion.  To perform GPT conversion with EGUS Partition Master, a powerful third party partitioning tool that easily loses data without losing MBR to GPT.

Download now EaseUS

Step 1. Download and start Image Partition Master on your Windows computer.

Step 2. Right click on the MBR disk you want to convert and choose Convert to GPT.

Change MBR to GPT-1

Step 3. After that, find and click the Run 1 Operation button on the toolbar and choose Apply to start the conversion.  To enable this change, you must restart your device.

Change MBR to GPT – 2

Having trouble starting your computer system  There is no problem. With EaseUS Partition Manager, you can create WinPE boot devices packaged with EaseUS Partition Master on USB, CD or DVD.  Then you can start the computer from the device and use the tool to convert the GPT disk to MBR disk with a simple click.  (You need another working computer to create a WinPE bootable USB  CD  DVD.)

Method 2. Convert MBR to GPT by reformatting the drive

Since you are trying to install Windows to disk, you must have a Windows installation DVD or USB, with which you can also convert to GPT.  However, this method requires that you manually clean the drive and convert it to GPT.  Reformatting will erase all the data on the disk.  So if the data is important, feel free to preserve your data and convert it to GPT with EaseUS Partition Master, or at least make a full backup before repairing the drive.

Step 1. Turn off the PC and insert it into the Windows installation DVD or USB.

Step 2. Boot the PC from DVD or USB.

Step 3. In the Windows installation program, press Shift + F10 to start the command prompt.

Step 4. Enter the following commands in order

Disc List

Select disk disk number

clean

Turn into

Outside

Step 5. Deactivate the command prompt.

Step 6. Continue Windows installation.

After conversion, the unit will appear as a single field.  Select the unrelated location and click Next.  Windows will start the installation without sending a single error.

Method 3. Booting in UEFI mode

This solution is not universally applicable.  Why This is because not all computers have UEFI and BIOS compatible firmware.  Although most desktop and laptop computers running Windows 10 have a UEFI-based motherboard with a legacy BIOS compatibility mode, there are some requirements.  Older computers running Windows 7 only support legacy BIOS mode, and the latest Surface Pro only supports UEFI mode.

When you receive Windows cannot install on this disk. “Your Selected disk is of Gpt Partition Style”, indicating that your computer is currently booted into the legacy BIOS.  To start UEFI, you need to check if the firmware supports UEFI in BIOS and then change it when mode is available.

Step 1. Turn off your computer completely.

Step 2. Turn on the system.  Once you see the logo, press the BIOS key, either Esc, Delete, F1, F2, F10, F11, or F12 to enter the BIOS.  (Generally, the computer screen will show you what the BIOS key is.)

Step 3. Use the arrow keys to select and enter the Startup tab.

Step 4. Use the down arrow to select the UEFI.

Step 5. Save the changes and exit the BIOS.

Step 6. Continue Windows installation.

Boot into Legacy BIOS or UEFI- If there is no UEFI mode available, it means that your computer only supports BIOS mode.  In such case, you can change GPT to MBR just to fix the error This Windows cannot be installed on disk.
